About the Artist Educator

Amelia Ogg is a local artist and artist educator known mostly for her ceramic sculptural work. While she majored in painting during her Bachelor of Visual Art, her recent practice is founded on an interest in the intuitive and tactile process of clay building. For Amelia, ceramics is a consistent connection to the creative process. It has gently, over time, compelled her to relinquish rigid control and expectations of desired designs. Discovering unique and unpredictable outcomes in ceramic pieces now continues to inspire her work.

Amelia’s experimental approach of uncovering the possibilities and limitations of clay motivates her need to explore new materials, tools and techniques. The direction this has provided, paired with the primordial significance of clay as medium has been the catalyst for the development of both decorative and functional sculptures and vessels that either house plants and ecosystems or communicate concepts within the cycle of life and decay.
