While Rockhampton Museum of Art is a new institution, it continues the more than 50-year history of the former Rockhampton Art Gallery. It is also part of a long tradition of art appreciation, philanthropy and creation in Rockhampton. Rockhampton Museum of Art is where our region can be inspired, engaged and enriched by art. Our permanent collection is one of national significance. Historically the collection tracks Australia’s modernist movement, and we continue to acquire works of art by living artists to form future nationally significant collections.
