About the Artist Educator

Lexi Maller is a maker from Melbourne who has relocated to Rockhampton. Coming from a family of artists, her practice is craft-based and intuitive, exploring the potentials of object creation and material manipulation through gold and silversmithing, painting, textiles, and fine art conservation. Maller explores pathways that draw inspiration from one form of craft into another: carving a scene from a painting into a sculptural ring, using fabric impressions in paintings to form part of a landscape, using printed fabrics to bring a love of nature to timeless tailoring. Maller creates pieces with the ethos that beauty and art should be touched and enjoyed in our day-to-day lives.
