About Martin Schlick
Schlick, known by his artist and business name Masher, is a German-born, Australia-based graffiti artist whose creative journey began in the late 1990s. Deeply rooted in street art culture, his signature style is defined by large-scale, vibrant murals that pulse with energy and colour. Since relocating to Australia in 2008, Masher has worked primarily on commissioned mural projects, bringing bold, expressive visuals to public spaces across the country.
This year saw Masher have his first solo exhibition at Fig Tree Galleries in Yeppoon. He returned to his roots - reconnecting with the raw spirit of street art while translating it into new mediums. This transition to canvas marks an exciting evolution in his practice, allowing for experimentation and deeper exploration of the techniques and aesthetics that have shaped his work for over two decades. His latest pieces retain the unmistakable influence of graffiti - bright, vivid, and unapologetically expressive - while offering a more intimate glimpse into his artistic voice. Schlick was a finalist in the 2025 Bayton Awards at RMOA where he received an Honourable Mention.
