Every three years Rockhampton hosts the Beef Australia event, the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere, leveraging from the city’s reputation as ‘the Beef Capital of Australia’. While Beef is a huge event for the city and the region, it does present Rockhampton, a place presenting a laid back ‘country’ lifestyle in combination with the modern and cultural comforts of the city, with a compelling identity position that Raging Bull explores.

Raging Bull presents six artists who, whether by fate or choice, have an abiding relationship with regional life, responding to the idea of ‘beef’. Whether discussing it in terms of beasts, language, the (agri)culture surrounding it, the culinary world, the land, or pop culture representations of cowboys and ranchers, Raging Bull takes a different approach to what we might ordinarily associate with the beef industry and, of course, Beef Week. Taking place across and beyond Beef 2027, Raging Bull promises a surprising take on contemporary regional life.

Featuring: Adam Cusack, Tim Ellis, Joe Furlonger, Niloufar Lovegrove, Michelle Taranto and Ricardo Wilmshurst.

Curated by Jonathan McBurnie and Shanna Muston.
