Arryn Snowball is a Queensland painter currently based Berlin, whose ever-growing work on paper, Mammoth, will occupy Rockhampton Museum of Art’s Atrium Gallery. Created in response to a series of poems by Brisbane-based poet Nathan Shepherdson, which was in turn inspired by Ern Grant’s beloved Grant’s Guide to Fishes (1965), Snowball’s artwork teases out the formalist structures of the poem’s words and phrases as both an abstract and textual creation of epic proportions.
